We had some cracks in our foundation repaired by M-Squared in 2019. Dan came to the house for a consultation and identified areas that he recommended for repair. We decided to have the highest priority cracks filled, and although he recommended others, he did not pressure us into anything we weren't comfortable with. The M-Squared team was professional and unobtrusive throughout the crack repair process. The work was done of high quality and was done quickly. Dan was very communicative regarding appointment times and arrangements for things like basement access, locking up when leaving, etc. After completing the job in the basement, Dan told us that he saw some cracks on the exterior of the house that he recommended filling. We thanked him for the information, but told him that we were not interested in having any more work done at that time. He then asked if we minded if he repaired those exterior cracks for no additional cost! Of course we said yes, and we appreciate him going above and beyond the original scope of the job. Finally, M-Squared's customer service after the job was completed has been impressive. Dan checked in a few times since the original repairs, reminding us that we have a lifetime warranty and asking if we need anything. A couple years after the crack repair, we noticed that gaps appeared in the epoxy that was applied to fill the cracks, apparently due to the foundation moving and making the cracks bigger. We provided some pictures to Dan, and he had an employee over to re-do the affected cracks within a few days. Once again the work was done well, efficiently, and unobtrusively. Oh, and we don't get any water in our basement anymore! Overall, we are very impressed with Dan and M-Squared. Based on our satisfaction with the work performed and the customer service provided, we recommend them without reservation.
I am very pleased with the basement waterproofing. I haven't had any issues with water in my basement since Dan applied his product. Dan was great to work with and is very knowledgeable. I would recommend this company. Thanks, Melissa.
Just last week, I told a visitor that I had 2 leaks from cracks in the blocks in my garage that don't leak any more. The leaks were caused by the shock of large trees hitting my house. One basement company said, "you need 2 or 4 sump pumps, perhaps for the basement also." A realtor friend said, "OMG people will think you have major water problems!" Others included 2 masons who said those cracks must be fixed from the exterior. This meant removing large bushes in the front of the house. More difficult was removing & replacing part of an Ipey deck in the rear. Dan and his crew came and fixed the complicated leak problem from the inside. It has never leaked since then. Thanks Dan for your system & materials! Edward Fuhr
We contacted Dan when putting our home up for sale after realizing we had a serious water issue under our slab, he was very responsive and had some ideas to help us solve our problem but identified we also had footing drain flooding and lived in an area with high water table problems! We needed a solution for long term. Dan and his team spent considerable time working on our home while we also had put the home on the market for sale and he helped us solve our water issue! He also worked with my real estate agent and other contractors as the project moved along and he communicated to me via FaceTime since I had already moved out of state! The project was completed and house was sold and I believe the water system installed is still working as needed!
We wanted to waterproof our basement so we could finish and furnish it. This required sealing the walls, sealing the floor/wall joint and redo our sump pump well. The job was just as described at the signed quote. Dan and his team even came back after some of the refinishing was done to double-check the basement and even touched up areas that we were only able to see after some very heavy rains/result of some of the construction. All without additional cost. He also continued to check in after the work was done and, again, after heavy rains which meant a lot to us. Dan and his team showed up as promised and kept a very clean work environment. They were professional, neat, and explained the process and things he found along the way (this is our first home, so his insights were helpful). Overall we are very happy with his team, application, and results so far. Dan was a pleasure to work with and one reason we were really interested in his company's solution is due to the minimal impact it had on the foundation. Thanks! Alex
We’re happy to answer questions about Dan’s work. 1. We live in an old (1926) West Hartford house with an old New England basement or cellar. Over the years it had been painted and waterproofed again and again until the paint was flaking off everywhere. We had some small water leaking problems in very heavy rain but that was more of a cosmetic problem than anything else. But it was a problem nonetheless and the place looked messy and probably there would be rain and groundwater issues in the future as is common in our neighborhood. 2. We called in Dan on the advice of another basement contractor who had done other jobs for us but who did not do that sort of work and who highly recommended Dan’s company. Dan came in and proposed scraping off the entire wall surface of paint down to the stone, patching the various gouges and dents and dings and cracks and then sealing the entire basement wall surface. He gave us the option of sealing up to the ground level or to the ceiling; we chose the latter. 3. The job remained at the contracted level throughout — except for one major wall crack that was so deep and traveled across enough wall elements to require special attention: cleaning it out, deeply patching it and blending the surfaces to one another. This was extra but it was not a huge amount. Otherwise Dan and his crew worked to the contract. 4. Yes, the men came when scheduled, worked hard and well and finished the project on time. They sealed off their work from the rest of the house and in very way did the job professionally. 5. We are pleased with the result. The walls are clean and seem sealed for eternity (or at least our part of it.) They did the work quickly and cleaned up very well after their job was done. We feel comfortable that the basement is now secure from water and other issues. I am confident that the basement walls will no longer be a problem at all. I am happy to recommend Dan Maitland and his crew. They did a very good job and we’re glad to have met them.
